Trick or Treat - Part 2 Costume

Continuing with the Halloween theme and from yesterdays make-up post , Im now going show you how to create a cute/haunting but scarily cheap Halloween costume . The whole look cost £11.50. This outfit was influenced by  my hockey social outfit from last week . The theme was 'When I Grow up' and I wanted to be a dancer ( even though i cant dance at all and haven't had a dance lesson ) , obviously it wasn't all blooded up when I wore it then.

I couldn't find a leotard anywhere so I popped into Primark and found a stretchy vest dress (if that's even a real thing ?) which looked like a leotard under the tutu. I didn't realise how ridiculously short the tutu was before buying it so I needed something to cover. I pretty much just cut into the t-shirt in random places to give it a ripped effect . Using the fake blood I just randomly throw it on making sure it wasn't too neat , I would apply the blood using a foundation brush  around the cut areas though .I did this a few days before I'm going to wear it so that it dries. I then just applied the fake blood with a brush onto the tutu . Its so simple but it looks really effective when everything comes together.

Products Used
T-shirt/Dress from Primark - £3.50
Tutu from PartyPlanet - £8.00
Fake blood from ClintonsCards - £1.50

Trick or Treat - Hockey Halloween Social

Last night was the Hockey Halloween social  which i'd been looking forward to for ages because hockey always go full out. Instead of the normal routine of choosing our own costume ,each team had to wait till the night to find out what they would be wearing. Each team had a different choice of costume and all members of the team wore the same outfit,  which made it easier to find people for when I decide to walk off and lose everyone. I literally had no idea what the 3's would be wearing , all we were told was to dress in all black. Naturally I thought we were going to be cats or witches , so it was a total surprise when we were turned into pumpkins !

It was such a clever idea. We pretty much just cut a pumpkin face onto an orange t-shirts . That simple. Then we all put our hair into high buns and sprayed green and orange  hairspray on (trying to wash out the hairspray was out this morning was such a pain though .) The look was finished off with green eyeshadow and green liquid eyeliner for the make-up. It was such a good night , probably the best night I have had with hockey so far.

We all look so good

Trick or Treat - Part 1 Make-up

Halloween is pretty much my favourite time of year ,well second favourite after Xmas. Being at university there's so much going on this year, which isn't good for my bank balance . Its every university students dilemma at around this time of year though , what do I dress up for Halloween  without spending all my overdraft ? .So I'm pretty much going to show you  how you can solve this problem by showing you my look that im going to use for Halloween this year ,starting with the make-up  .Its easy , quick and cheap . I had all these products already in my make-up bag so I didn't really spend anything on this look but you can use any other products that are similar.

Being naturally really pale I didn't really need to use any white face paint for the base but obviously if your skin is tanned or darker white face paint is an option . If you are going to use face paint I would recommend using a an old clean foundation brush to apply it with just because it produces a more even coverage and its easier to apply. A cream paint is always the best option  , which is basically like a £1 from any shop .Hardly breaking the budget .

If you are pale like me I would suggest using your normal foundation or a shade lighter than you normally would . I just used the Rimmel Match Perfection in Light Porcelain which is my everyday one .

Next I created the smokey eyes with the Undressed Pallet from MUA. Im not the best when it comes it eye make-up so I  just applied shade 11 all over the eye and underneath as well . Clearly if your better at make-up than me  and better at creating a real smokey eye than do that . I actually use the eyeshadow to contour the cheekbones as well , I found that it showed up better than actually using black face paint

To create the stitches I just used a black liquid eyeliner .Simple . I would go over the top on them because then it would just look like one black mess, three or four will do. I would recommend drawing them on quite large as I tired smaller ones which just ended up looking like black spots in photos (not a good look.) . I also added a little bit of fake blood with a foundation brush on them to give it more of a realistic effect

Lastly I just added a little bit of colour to the lips to give it more of a going out feel . I love the Sleek True Colour lipstick in Cherry , its really moisturizing and leaves your lips feeling soft and looking glossy, Everything that has been used can also be re-used into your normal make-up routine.

What Would LC do - 10 life lessons that The Hills have taught us

Ever since the early days of Laguna Beach and through out the years on The Hills , One thing stayed the same with Lauran Condrad ; she always gives the best advice . Whether it's about friends , boyfriends , make ups or break ups you can always count on LC to rely on to get you through the tough times. Here are some of the lessons she has taught us.

1) Ending relationships are tough for everyone. Whether you’re trying to move on from an ex-boyfriend or breaking up from your best friend , LC has taught us that no matter what situation you’re going through it's going to be tough times .  Its always good to cry and let it out.

2) It’s the quality of your friends , not the quantity . Having a stable group of a few close friends is key. Fake friends are not worth it .

3) Happiness is key. If you’re in a relationship where you are not happy then it’s probably not worth the stress and drama. Don’t be in a relationship with someone just for the sake of it. You should be with someone that treats you right not that makes you think you’re not good enough .

4) Life isn’t fair. Sometimes you just have to look on the positive sides of situations even if you think that nothing is going right. Just think everything happens for reason .Things have to get worse before they get better.  But instead of dwelling on it you can accept it as it is and move forward

5) You can’t trust everyone you like. Don’t trust someone too fast. Wait a while before you talk about your secrets, work out who's real and who's there just to cause drama.

6) Always choose Paris. Don’t ever let anyone stand in your way between you and any opportunities in life because you'll always think about the' what if's'

8) Not everyone is out to get you. There are some people that want the best for you . Most of the time we always hear things how everyone is out to get you and we forget that we all have people in our lives that want to see us happy

9) Saying goodbye is hard especially to someone who you used to be close to, but sometimes it’s the best thing to do. Move on from people who cause too much negativity, its best just to cut them out your life.

10) Most importantly , Forgive and Forget ( Take that how you want)

RIP Oscar de la Renta

Today , 21/10/14 is a sad day in the fashion world , Oscar de la Renta has passed away . I'm still in shock. When someone in the fashion industry dies I honestly don't believe it.I really thought he was going to be one of those people that just lived forever. Its going to be seriously weird no seeing his designs anymore and having someone else taking over the line ( if it happens). He was one of my favourite designers , and forever will be . He was one of the few designers that I get excited about and really anticipate seeing his designs during NYFW. A tragic lost to the fashion world

RIP Oscar de la Renta

UPDATE : Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus

I don't think I'll ever understand guys , there so confusing . One minuet they want to talk to you , the next they don't and then they get mad because they have stopped talking to you even though they were ignoring you in the first place. Ughhh . Or they will only talk to you when there drunk . I dont know if im being naive but i also fall for it because i always think people are gonna change . Im starting to think that all guys are idiots , they cause so much drama . Definitely just going to stick with the hockey girls on nights out because it's so much less stressful to hang out with the girl than go get involve in messy boy drama , ive had enough of that over the past year.

One thing I've learnt in the past year is that there not really worth it . Honestly take it from me , there not worth falling out with friends over or losing friends  for . I've made some horrible mistakes with my friends over guys that I wish that never happened . I know it sounds really cheesy but your friends will always be there for you no matter what , guys will just come and go . When things go wrong with guys you will always need your friends there. I've learnt this the hard way. Just don't abandon your friends , friendship should always come before relationships . I've missed out on so many things just because of a boy , looking back on everything I regret so much . I let both my friendship suffer and my work suffer to and was it really worth it in the end ? No Not really . Then why do I still care about someone who doesn't care about me ? On the other hand why should i care about him. I'm will be stupid if I let a boy effect my degree. Is he really worth scarifying a 1st for . I honestly don't know anymore . I'm so torn . Help ?

Any excuse for a LC gif

Monthly Favourites

Every month I'll be reviewing and blogging about some beauty products, clothing and other random stuff that I've really liked that month.

The first product that I really love is the Rimmel Lodnon Scandeleyes Mascara in Extreme Black. I’m literally obsessed with mascara , I can never use a whole tube before buying a new one. I'm always buying mascara . I first used this back in my first year of uni and fell in love with it ever since. I've recently re-purchased this before going back to uni because I knew it would be reliable during freshers week . It definitely gives my lashes a more  volumized look and leaves them clump free.

Collection Luscious Lashes Natural is another beauty product that I'm loving at the moment. I don't normally wear fake eyelashes on nights because I never thought they suited me , but I picked these up spontaneously because they were on offer at the time. They're really affordable at £2.99 which is really good considering I don't wear fake eyelashes and trying them out. I would really recommend these for first time users or for people on a budget because they are really good quality and easy to apply(If I can  apply them anyone can do it ).The only issue is that you do have to apply quite a bit of glue for them to firmly stick ,especially in the corners. But they are re-usable , although I have had to re-purchase them a few times because I'm forever losing them on nights out (my fault not the products)

One of my favourite hair care products ever is Batiste Dry Shampoo , so when I heard that they have a dry conditioner I had to try it out. I don't know why but I find the concept of dry conditioner a little weird but I guess it's pretty much like a leave in conditioner. Just like their dry shampoo it smells really nice but a little artificial. It did leave my hair really smooth and shinny though .Because I have dark hair I was worried that it would leave  white 'dust' in my hair but it didn't which is a bonus.

I'm really lazy when it comes to my skin care routine. Its really bad to admit that but I never find the time to do everything and being back at uni my skin care routine is just one more thing I need to remember to do.Also I dont like the thought of using too many products on my face , so Nivea Daily Essentials 2 in 1 Cleanser and Toner is perfect. Being a 2 in 1 product means I'm using less products on my face and I'm cutting down time on my skincare routine, which means I have more time for to get on with my uni work( suppose to be anyway). I think having a good toner and cleanser is really important especially if your skin isn't in a great condition . This product makes your skin look and feel really fresh and soft . I pretty much use it both in the morning and at night and it lasts for ages as well because you only need to apply a small amount of it . I really like the smell of it too. It smells a bit of sun cream which is weird but it always reminds me of summer.

I'm loving the fact that it is Autumn because I finally wear my White Faux Fur Headband from New Look which I bought this  back in mid September. I saw it in store and bought it because I was scared by the time Autumn came around it wouldn't be in store anymore. I was really excited to wear it the other day because it was finally cold enough to wear it . The only problem was that it was raining outside and I didn't want to get it wet so I just wore it around the house. Its so soft , I love it . Definitely going to be wearing all winter.

The first non fashion / beauty item on the list is the TV series Fresh meat. I discovered this when I got Netflix when I got back to uni. I must of watched 2 series in about a day, It's a seriously good handover cure . I love everything with Jack Whitehall in , he never fails to make me laugh. So happy when they put series three up but I'm feel lost now that I've watched all of them now.

The second non fashion / beauty item that I've been loving this month is Ariana Grande's new album (My Everything). I didn't know what to expect from this album and it didn't disappoint , its probably my favourite album that I've listened to in a long time. I pretty much love every song  . Its constantly on repeat when I'm doing my uni work . She has definitely ditched the Nickelodeon/Disney image that she had in her previous album for a more grown up and honest image. Highlights on the album:  One Last Time , My Everything, We Try , J
ust a Little Bit of Your Heart ,Problem & Break Free.

Purple Hair Dont Care .... kind of

As you can see from the previous post I decided that I was going to dye my hair purple. I was a little apprehensive as I’ve only ever dyed my own hair with a foam dye before. I normally get my mum or hairdresser to dye it for me because I cannot be trusted with something that’s important to me. Yes my hair is important to me.So it was my first time dying my own hair with a proper dye. I used the Colour Vibrance from Superdrug in Very Violet (2 for £6.00) and I wanted to test it out before buying an expensive one. I’m always a bit nervous dying my hair a different colour in case i hate it , but at the end of the day it can be washed out and if went drastically wrong I could just say I was dying it for Halloween.

I wasn’t going to originally buy with dye. I was going to buy Garnier Olia Permanent Hair Colour in Deep Violet but the reviews weren’t promising.  The dye was easy to apply, although I did make a mess when washing it out. I washed it out with lukewarm water because I’ve heard using hot water damages the scalp and affects the colour . I’m happy with the results but the colour depends of the light.

In some lights the purple is clearly visible and in other lights it looks like a black cherry colour which I actually really like. This result is probably due to the fact that I still had a red colour left in from my pervious dye. I would recommend it to anyone with blonde and light brown hair as I think the colour will be more visible. I probably won’t re-use this particular dye again but go for the same colour in a different brand once the entire colour from my hair has faded completely though.

Mental Health Awareness Day ( Very personal post)

Yesterday was Mental Health Awareness Day and it’s a very close subject to me. Mental Illness runs in my family .I found out a couple of years ago that my aunt suffered from schizophrenia and it was only until last year that mental illness effected another family member who I’m extremely close to , my twin sister . In a couple of days it would be almost a year since she had the official diagnoses of being servarly anorexic. Since then it’s been the toughest year of my life. Although it’s nearly a year since her official diagnoses, she recently told me that she has been suffering with the illness since she was 15 (nearly 6 years). It’s hard to think that I didn’t know this. I should know this I’m her twin sister she tells me everything right? At the time she kept it well hidden. Looking back now I can see the warning signs. It’s hard to think looking back to when she was younger this would happen to her now. But this is the thing with mental illness it can happen to anyone at any time and at any point in their life. It’s really hard to explain to someone the daily struggle that the person with the illness goes through and how servarly it effects everyone around them. It’s even harder when the person suffering is your twin sister. The bond between twins is fascinating and unique; it’s different than the bond between other siblings. It’s really hard to explain it if you’re not a twin. Being the older twin I’ve always been protected of her and seeing her change. Not only physically but mentally into a different person has been difficult. At the time of her diagnosis I was a month into my second year at uni. I remember the endless skype sessions and calls trying to calm her down when she hit rock bottom .People have so many misconceptions of anorexia. It’s not a weight disorder it’s a mental disorder. Not only is she diagnosed with anorexia but she also suffers from anxiety and depression. At the time watching my sister slowly kill herself and not being able to do anything to help was so agonising and painful. The thought of her going to bed and not waking up the next was constantly in the back of my mind. I felt so guilty that I was going on nights out and she was stuck in her room at uni or in hospital alone and suffering. I think seeing her in hospital was the worst thing for me because that’s when I knew that the illness had fully taken control of her. I remember visiting her at oxford where she was getting treatment and trying not to cry when I saw her.

I get so angry when I read comments telling anorexics to "just eat" or advising parents to force feed someone suffering with anorexia. Like I said before it’s a mental illness not a weight disorder. If it was that simple then Anorexia wouldn’t have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric disorder.  It scary to think that my sister could be in the 20% that will die prematurely from of the illness.  I’m so proud to call her my sister though , She the bravest and strongest person I know and I know she can beat this xxxxx

P.S I did get Becca's permission to post this and all stats are from
